Overview Suburbs Attractions Going Out Hostels

Sydney is one of the first places in Australia that most travellers, backpackers and tourists will experience. With one of the busiest airports in the world and undoubtedly the busiest in Australia, there are hundreds of people landing every day, buzzing with anticipation and keen to experience everything that Australia and Sydney has to offer and what a place to start. Sydney has it all, bustling shopping centres, fabulous restaurants, vibrant clubs and bars and some of the most famous beaches in the world offering golden sands and clear blue skies.

There is everything on offer in Sydney and many tourists and travellers can get caught up in the buzz and atmosphere that is on every corner and spend longer in Australia’s adopted capital than they had planned. This is no bad thing and if lazy days in the botanical gardens, hot and sweaty days on Bondi Beach and permanently cold drinks on offer in the numerous bars located throughout the city and suburbs, sounds like your thing then Sydney could be the perfect place for your Australia trip to begin.

With in-numerable good quality accommodation throughout the city ranging from Backpacker hostels to upmarket hotels there is enough choice to cater for every budget. For the Backpacker and budget traveller Kings Cross is still the first choice for cheap hostels and cheap hotels – with prices for basic dorm hostels around $20-$30 and double rooms from $35 a night. If all night partying and the smattering of sleaze from Sydney’s famous red light district is not your thing then the area around Haymarket and Central Station will be your next port of call with the huge and increasingly popular hostels leading the way. For a little more luxury or for the short stay visitor and traveller, The Rocks, the CBD and Darling Harbour have the most selection of upmarket hotels and several hostels. Hostels in this area range from $30-$35 per night based on a dorm room.

Like all major cities around the world, Sydney has a vibrant and exotic mixture of places to eat. Sydney offers a diverse range of eateries covering every imaginable genre of food. The Café style of brassiere and eateries is becoming increasing en-vogue, and due to this there is no shortage of places to pick up a top quality but reasonably priced meal for every palette.

No visit to Sydney would be complete without a visit to the world famous Harbour, one of the largest natural harbours in the world. Straddled by the Harbour bridge with the shining landmark of the Opera house nestling almost lapped by the waves right on the edge of the harbour, there is almost to much to take in all in one go. The best views and classic postcard photo’s are available on the numerous ferry’s and harbour trips leaving right at the foot of the bridge.

For those sun worshippers there is no better city, there are some of the world’s most famous beaches within a 10 minute journey from the city centre. Bondi, synonymous for conjuring images of bronzed and toned bodies is the most accessible and still the favourite amongst Backpackers and travellers looking to hook up with likeminded people and also to escape the frantic city life for a few hours. Those Tourists and travellers looking for perhaps a quieter and more idyllic beach setting should head to Manly or Coogee beaches. Both offering the now legendary Australian beach experience, backed up by plenty to see and do in the associated town areas.
