Backpackers Attractions in Brisbane

As the state capital of Queensland, Brisbane offers some excellent attractions and sights for the traveller. If you’re only after parties and cold beer then you may not feel the need to venture out of the city suburb of Fortitude Valley. If you fancy seeing what else Australia's quickest growing city has to offer you won’t be disappointed. Public transport is excellent and touring the sights via catamaran on the Brisbane River has a charming appeal to it.

South Bank Parklands
The South Bank Parklands were completed in 1988 during a regeneration project of south Brisbane. Today the area is a massive draw for visitors and residents alike. Relax in the grassy areas or cool off in the saltwater lagoon and man made beach. Grab a snack or a drink at one of the numerous cafes or at weekends lazily stroll around the markets and watch the entertaining street performers. The South Bank offers a green paradise right in the centre of city living.

Queensland Museum
Queensland's state museum is a great way to spend an afternoon escaping the sun. The exhibits are breathtaking and provide a natural history type feel with skeletons and stuffed animals drawing the crowds.

Brisbane Beer TourScience Centre
The science centre provides South Brisbane's alternative to quiet museums and art galleries with its attempt to make learning fun. Aimed primarily at the younger generation with the right crowd this attraction can be very appealing to backpackers looking to have a little fun and get hands on with the exhibits.

Castlemaine XXXX Brewery
XXXX is Queensland’s state beer and Queenslanders are very proud of this amber nectar. The Castlemaine Perkins Brewery has been supplying beer to the state since 1878 and backpackers have been sampling it in state bars for years. The brewery offers tours daily for a small cost and they are very popular culminating in free samples at the end of the tour.
