Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG)
Located east of the city centre in East Melbourne the MCG is the crown jewel of the states numerous sporting arenas. Probably the most famous sporting venue in the whole country the MCG has a long and great history. Newly refurbished the stadium has a huge holding capacity and still plays host to some of the countrys most famous sporting events including the boxing day ashes test when the tournament is on and the Aussie rules football grand final. Tours of the ground are very popular and available every day except match days.

Melbourne Zoo
Located North West of the city centre and served by Melbournes excellent public transport is Melbourne Zoo. Melbourne Zoo is the oldest in Australia and still keeps some of that charm with old buildings mixed in with the new. As a zoo this is one of the countries best with some excellent enclosures housing indigenous and non-indigenous flora and fauna. One of the best features is the walk through enclosures that let you get within touching distance of the resident kangaroos and wallabies. Gets very busy during the summer months when visitors flock to the zoo in their hundreds.
