Top 10 Places to Visit

Backpacking around Australia can often be a little more difficult than first thought when you take into account the distances involved while travelling this country. Below are backpacker pages top 10 place to Sydney Harbour Bridgevisit on your backpacking adventure. This is certainly not all Australia has to off but they are some of our favourites (and will be yours too we're sure).

1. Sydney – One of the most beautiful, vibrant cities in the world home to the Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House. When in Sydney you can expect to experience city life style mixed with sun, sea and sand.

2. Melbourne – One of Australia’s most European influenced cities you can spend hours exploring its maze of streets.

3. Tasmania – Somewhat the forgotten part of Australia, lying across the Tasman Sea this island has too many wonders to be ignored.

4. Byron Bay – One of the most laid back towns you will visit in Oz. Spend your days learning to surf or chilling in one of Byron’s many juice bars.

5. Surfers Paradise – One of the Gold Coasts premier surf destination Australian Beachess, shark nets put tourists at ease in the surf even if the sky rise buildings along the beach do tend to block out the sun from 3pm onwards, bizarre.

6. Brisbane – A wonderful city to explore on foot and at the end of the day you  can cool off at the inner city man made beach and lagoon.

7. Cairns – A compact low rise town that promotes itself as the ‘Gateway to the reef’. Cairns is a backpacker haven full of bars and backpacker activities and a saltwater lagoon on the promenade to escape the attentions of the box jellyfish that drift through the coastal waters.

8. Perth - The only major city on the West coast Perth sprawls for miles with suburbs such as Fremantle and Cottesloe attracting the crowds at weekends.

Australian Beach9. Broome – A convenient stop up the West coast, Broome may not appeal to everyone but once you get over the searing heat exploring cable beach can be magical.

10. Canberra – Australia’s capital city can be a disappointment but if you take the time to scratch the surface the war memorial and parliament buildings can take your breath away.
